|Yesterday, I attended the Lotus team's
midwest regional meeting. Good to see my old colleagues -- we've
had a remarkably stable team here, and many of the sales managers or IT
specialists are people I've worked with my full Lotus/IBM career.
In addition to good camraderie and a nice dinner at Maggiano's, I picked up a lead on a great new computer toy.
A couple of the other presenters had these great combo wireless mouse/laser pointer devices. Very easy to set up and use. No special driver needed, and a small footprint by plugging into the USB port. Well, thirty seconds of use and I was hooked!!! I know that wireless presentation mice have existed for years, but the small footprint of the USB interface, and the ease of use on this one were immediately attractive.
Thus, shortly after rushing home, I was surfing the web to find my very own Flex Pointer. First find was on the CompUSA website, US$60. My colleague Glen had suggested it would cost around US$30, so CompUSA was looking a little out of the ballpark. Time to turn to trusty eBay. Now that was more like it, as there was a "buy it now" for $29.95. Such a deal -- and done.
Now, the question is, how will this affect my presentations??? I already have a tendency to be a bit, uh, animated in my presentations, and now I've cut the cord...this ought to be interesting.
