Not a link trader
August 25 2004
For some reason, in the last week or so,
I've received a ton of requests to link to pages/products/people from edbrill.com.
Generally speaking, I'm going to deny requests like this. Why?
Well, there are a lot of ways to publicize your site/product/self,
and while I'm flattered that this blog is seen as a magic potion, it's
just one way.
I do read many many weblogs on a regular
basis, and follow links regularly (which sometimes results in a lot of
daydreaming and wasted time...I gotta get more focused). Anyway,
I link to things I see in the blogosphere or product-wise that interest
me, but I'd like to make those choices on my own. I mean, sometimes
it is catchy stuff like different
designs for the Lotus Notes welcome page,
or analogies
between baseball and business management,
or poetry
contests for friends...those
deserve links, right?
I guess that's why we read weblogs. They're like a box of chocolates.
You never know what you're going to get.
