I've been slowly planning a couple of days in Vienna for my European trip at the end of this month.  Hadn't booked a hotel yet...the IBM list has some fine, but generic, choices, nothing too exciting.
Volker was in Vienna earlier this week, and blogged about his quick trip and the crackerbox hotel room he stayed in.  In the comments, Horst Prillinger said that he could recommend some hotels.
So, I figured, why not -- sent Horst the IBM hotel list and asked for thoughts.
Herr Aardvark's spokesperson, Haldur Gislufsson,  responded very kindly overnight, not only with comments on the IBM list, but a few recommendations of his own.
One of his recommendations turns out to be absolutely perfect: The Hotel Viennart.  The rate is only Euro 80 a night for a single room, including breakfast.  They have in-room Internet access.  The rate also includes a "Vienna Card", which provides unlimited travel on the underground, bus, and train, as well as discounts at touristy kinds of things.

This is really the perfect hotel for my short visit to Vienna -- thanks for the recommendation, Aardvark!
