I think I got a parking ticket
November 5 2003
Whatever it is, this does not sound good.
I guess I missed the fact that there was one of those vending machines for paying for a street parking space just next to where I parked. I assume the violation/warning/whatever it is will go to Hertz...wonder how long it will take for them to track me down.
Lots to write from last few days at DNUG, but it will probably take me until Friday to get there.

Ed, Ignore it. Don't think they'll contact Bush and ask for an extradition ;-))
I must have over 200 of those from loads of countries... Only country which is a pain is Switzerland since they'll have the ticket at the car rental within an hour or so, so you end up paying for it at Hertz counter...

From Babelfish:
Very honoured Verkehrsteilnehmerin, very honoured road user, you offended with your vehicle against the traffic right, therefore the vehicle specifications were seized elektronish. In the next days honour-old it in the context of an automated procedure a written caution money offer with closer explanation of the irregularity. Thus you get the opportunity to express itself to the reproach. Please you have understanding for the fact that a previous treatment of inquiries for organizational reasons is not possible.

I did a *long* time in Holland with hire cars (Merc, Baby Benzes, Alphas, CLK Convertible, Megane Convertibles, and Smart Cars - Smarts were the most fun!) - collected a number of automatic speeding and parking tickets.
Then six months off in Copenhagen (that *was* nice). One time thought - hey - I'll transit to CPH via Schipol in Holland. (I missed the shopping..)
Got stopped by customs: "Your name is in my computer". Frogmarched to small room with HUGE customs guy. "tap tap tap tap".
"Ahh. Speeding ticket. Eindhoven. Two years ago".
"Phew. No worries. How much"
"25 Euros".
"No worries. Here you are. Goodbye".
Watch out for those. I knew one LPS project manager who either had to spend 7 days in jail, or stump up over a thousand dollars in speeding fines.. Never knew what he actually decided....
Eeek indeed. Those rather fiscally aware Dutch, and probably those hyper-efficient Germans...
Tight flight schedules and one of those can ruin your trip.

I wouldn't have had a clue either, Ed, but I'll congratulate you on the most creative and useful entry on a blog I've seen to date. <G>
Seriously, you have a good blog, but getting someone else to translate for you while in Germany, wow, good idea.

Got a parking ticket a few weeks ago now in eindhoven, lost the damn thing, don't know who i need to speak to now!!!! Help!!!!

Ed,
Yes this is a ticket, I got the same things two years ago, and never heard anything from hertz since then...
As far as I remember, it means, "You got a ticket, you have a few day to pay it, we have written down your identification number...blabla"
forget it...
