Yes, I braved the malls today...
November 28 2003
Enough is enough. I've had two Kenneth
Cole computer bags break....it's time to stop messing around.
I have a strong feeling that this Tumi
bag will be saying "I told you so" to me several times. It
has both a shoulder strap and handle/wheels. It's pretty lightweight,
and has about a dozen pockets, pouches, inserts, etc. It's not the
stylish leather look...but, well, that Kenneth Cole bag that split like
a clamshell on the way to Melbourne is going to go back for its "lifetime
warranty" repair. Once it comes back, I'll be able to pick the
right bag to suit my mood...OK, that sounds a bit feminine but you get
my point. (And, I guess, if you know that I'll have a choice of two
in the future, I guess some of you will be judging me if I choose form
over function, eh?).
Mr. Tumi will get his first test next week
Tuesday -- a 24 hour jump to Boston and back. Which reminds me, I
have some writing to do....

Do you have to check in Mr. Tumi or is it small enough to use it as hand luggage? I could not recognize it from the picture ...

Perish the thought of putting a computer in a checked bag!
I have to admit, I've gotten quite used to the US carry-on bag rules. They're not as generous as pre-9/11, but the strict limit to -one- carry-on bag in Europe and Australia is often a challenge for me. And maybe, just maybe, contributed to the demise of the last computer bag (from overstuffing).

Ed,
I have used Port for years and bought them for others as well. They have a leg up in technology as far as protecting a laptop from "dropage."
Besides I never could afford a Tumi,
Bob

I'll keep that one in mind...but is it some kind of cult favorite? I had never heard of it before this posting.

And am very, very happy with the way it performs, although I too missed the stylish leather when I first picked it out...

Looks ok to me. MUCH more stylish than the typical american leather bag.
