Adam Gartenberg: Lotus Sametime and Mac Leopard
October 26 2007
I was asked this morning about compatibility between Sametime and the new version of the Mac OS...
The answer is that Lotus Sametime 8.0 (due out this quarter) will support Leopard. Lotus Sametime 7.5.1 will not support Leopard. (And as has been confirmed by people who have tried to run Lotus Sametime 7.5.1 on pre-release Leopard code, this is not just a statement about which configurations our tech support team will accept service calls on.) My apologies to any of you who were hoping to upgrade sooner (or who will have to go without Sametime for a little while in between releases).Great to see the continuous improvement plans.
And while we're also on the topic, I did want to point out that Lotus Sametime 8.0 is also expected to provide continued enhancements for the Sametime Mac client, including point-to-point video, location awareness, and enhancements around interaction with the Mac dock, amongst others.

Funny you should mention that. We're working on the Leopard story for Notes 7...should have some news soon.

I've alrealdy upgraded my Macbook to Leopard and so far it's working very well. The upgrade went easily and the tools are pretty cool. The ones I liked most are the new Finder that imports the Cover Flow function from iTunes and the new iChat which allows the insertion of images and films. If you haven't upgraded yet, there are some interesting videos I've found that show Leopard's new tools and effects:

From my reading around the Apple discussion forums, Notes 7.0.3 will install and run on Leopard, whereas 7.0.2 won't install (and previously-installed Notes 7.0.2 instances, post-upgrade to Leopard, tend to fail).

I think a more general announcement about Notes and Leopard might be helpful, as at least one user on the LDD forums is demanding to know whether Notes 7.0.3 is supported on Leopard.
The support document "Which versions of Lotus Notes are supported on which Mac OS versions" { Link } stops at Notes 7.0.2.
Cheers,
