According to Michael Rhodin, general manager (Workplace Portal & Collaboration Software) at IBM, Lotus Notes and Domino form a key component of the IBM Workplace strategy, and is a "star performer" in IBM's software business. Lotus Domino 7 includes new collaboration features and tools that IBM claims can help improve productivity for IT administrators and corporate application developers, as well as new productivity enhancements to help Notes users work more efficiently.
Explaining the strategy behind IBM's collaborative and messaging application platform, Rhodin said, "Workplace is an umbrella; an initiative that we think represents an inflection point in the industry."
