Canadian readers of this blog will certainly remember Jamie Houston, who was most recently the Lotus messaging sales specialist in Canada. Jamie had a long-running battle with cancer. She died earlier this week.
In an organization filled with passionate people, Jamie's energy, enthusiasm, and commitment stood out. She always was a strong advocate for her customers, and for the Lotus brand and strategy. On a personal level, Jamie was up for any adventure. She took me to Whistler (!) for my first-ever skiing attempt, stopped at a roadside shack for jerk chicken in Jamaica, and detoured on a drive back from a customer to check out a cheese shop in her own town, as excited as I was to explore. She wasn't afraid to speak her mind, but that meant that she was a tireless advocate for her customers. I admired Jamie's passion for life on many levels, and I am saddened that it came to an end, way too soon.
My condolences to Jean-Noel, Jamie's husband, and to her family and friends. Her spirit will be missed.
Update 25 February, 2 PM EST: Jean wrote me that he has read all of the wonderful comments left here. He writes: For those interested, a celebration of Jamie's life will be held this Saturday, March 1st, 2pm at Grand Harbour, Building 'C', Popellia Lounge, 2287 Lakeshore Blvd. W. Etobicoke M8V 3Y1.
Donations in Jamie's memory may be made to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.
