Just happened across this preference by accident:

Image:Notes 8 making canceled meeting management easier

Good addition on top of the "ghosted" feature for seeing invitations on your calendar before processing.

I'd like to see declined meetings show as well. Perhaps it's just me, but I often decline a meeting because I'm previously single/double/triple booked. Then the meeting I accepted gets moved or cancelled, or a trip changes, and I could make the meeting. I'd like a simple way (such as this) to see what I declined but can now make.

Isn't that what tentatively accepted essentially does? You can then go back and really accept later. At least that's how I use the feature!

I agree with Mike, not that we all WANT to go to more meetings but you know it would be nice to track other projects.

It's a subtle difference, and it's one most people don't notice. Tentative accept even says that in the subject, but most people simply see the thumbs up and assume you said, "OK". Then if you don't show, you're the bad guy. If I'm booked, or if I have something take priority, I prefer to send the decline notice with some text. Being able to see what I declined would be fabulous.

I agree 100% with Mike. I'm regularly double and triple-booked and it's a shame at times to decline a meeting days or even weeks in advance only to find that on the day of I'm available to attend (but by then I have no recollection of that meeting.)

To me 'tentative accept' implies that you are more likely to go than not go. For years I've wanted an equivalent 'tentative decline', which to me implies that I am more likely to NOT attend than to attend. The advantage of a 'tentative decline', aside from informing the host as to your likely intentions, is that it would place the meeting on my calendar so that if I become available I will remember about the other meeting and can attend.

This Notes 8.0 feature will go most of the way to addressing my concern.

@5 -- I don't think it will address what I am stating. This feature is for cancelled meetings, not declined meetings. Personally, I have very few cancelled meetings. Most either go forward or are rescheduled. I'd say 1%-3% are outright cancelled.

The tentative decline (leave on my calendar) or show my declined invites is what I really want. I guarantee execs would love it as well. Definite differentiator with Outlook.

I will make sure the design team sees that suggestion (tentative decline).

    Hi Ed,

Consider the design team to be informed :)

I thought this would be a good feature, but it is not working. I set my preferences to show cancelled meetings but they are still deleted. I searched the lotus forum and found another complaint that this didn't work in April but no fix, except to say that the server needs to be on 8, which ours is. I wasn't able to find anything anywhere else and thought I'd add it here.

Anyone else get this feature to actually work?

I find that Microsofts forums much more helpful and I don't have to spend hours trying to find something. Maybe Lotus could learn from them.
