This year, however, things were a bit different. The Notes/Domino developers and administrators who make up the bulk of Lotusphere attendees were shown some genuinely innovative new technology and, more importantly, got a good look at the next versions of the Domino server and Notes client, which are now in beta and due for release at mid-year.

Even more important the developers saw for the first time tools for IBM Workplace that clearly define the skill sets application development for that environment will require -- and the roadmap was very reassuring.
